First Violin, Philadelphia Orchestra
I’m Richard Amoroso. I’ve been playing in the Philadelphia Orchestra's First Violin section for over 20 years. I have toured the world experiencing the stages of Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Musikverein in Vienna to name just a few. In those years as a member, I’ve performed with world-renowned conductors such as my music director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Simon Rattle, Ricardo Muti and many others.
In addition, I’ve upheld a private teaching studio for the last 25 years and currently teach violinists in my programs online helping them earn scholarships to some of the best music schools in the country. My road to success was quite unconventional as I did not attend formal music conservatory. I carved my own path to accomplish my dreams.
As a seasoned teacher, my greatest accomplishment is having students enjoy the journey of improvement on the violin and realize their ultimate destiny as a musician.
Associate Concertmaster, NC Symphony
… and I’m Dovid Friedander. I’m the Associate Concertmaster in the North Carolina Symphony. I’ve held this position for over 15 years, playing on the first stand, playing concertmaster and leading over half the concerts each year. I’ve also played numerous solo and chamber engagements with my symphony and other orchestras in the area.
I’ve been teaching young violinists my entire time in NC, helping violinists win competitions like Fischoff, concertmaster chair in their youth orchestras, and top prizes in solo competitions around the country, as well as land spots in some of the most coveted music conservatories like Juilliard and Cleveland Institute of Music.
I’m passionate about teaching proper technique so that certain styles like spiccato, vibrato and creating a beautiful sound become second nature and just part of what you do with ease. In addition to this, I’m an expert in physical fitness when it comes to playing violin and preventing playing-induced repetitive use injury with simple stretches and easy strength building tips that will keep you in front of the competition simply by insuring longevity and pain-free playing for years to come.
